VII. Procedures

In this section, I briefly address my procedures for data collection and analysis.

A. Digital Autoethnography | B. Invention Narratives | C. Qualitative Data Analysis

Data collection consisted of three main parts:

• a digital autoethnography of my own webtext design work on a book chapter, a an article, and a review essay;
• case studies of published webtext invention narratives published in Kairos Journal’s Inventio section;
• discourse-based interviews with recent authors in C & C Online and CCDP about their design processes concerning a particular published webtext.

The data was then analyzed for emergent codes using a multimodal coding methodology I’ve developed called “icon-coding”, which is discussed in Chapter 3. The final representation of the data and the accompanying analysis is a webtext mixing traditional alphabetic analysis with additional media forms.
